About RMJA Architects
RMJA is an architectural and design practice based in Colombo, Sri Lanka, founded in 2009 by Architect Rajith Jayawardana.
Our practice brings together architecture, interior design, engineering coordination, project management and cost consultancy to provide clients with a more integrated approach to building design and development.
We work across residential, hospitality, commercial, industrial and healthcare projects, with a particular interest in tropical architecture, sustainable design and creating buildings that respond meaningfully to their environment.
Our work is guided by a simple principle: good architecture should look beautiful, work efficiently and improve the experience of the people who use it.
Every project begins by understanding the client, the site and the objectives of the development before developing a design response that is appropriate to its context.
From personalized residences to boutique resorts and commercial developments, RMJA aims to create architecture that remains relevant, functional and valuable over time.

Architect Rajith Jayawardana
Principal Architect | RMJA Architects
Architect Rajith Jayawardana is the founder and Principal Architect of RMJA, an architectural practice based in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
He holds a Bachelor of Architecture (Hons) and Master of Urban Design from the University of Moratuwa and has extensive experience in architecture, urban design and project development.
His professional experience includes residential, hospitality, commercial, institutional and urban projects, working with both local and international consultants and clients.
Rajith served as Head of Architecture and Urban Design at Surath Wickramasinghe Associates, (2010-2025) one of Sri Lanka's established architectural practices.
He is an Associate Member of the Sri Lanka Institute of Architects and a Green SL Associate Professional of the Green Building Council of Sri Lanka.
His approach to architecture is influenced by Sri Lanka's climate, landscape, culture and architectural heritage, with particular emphasis on tropical design, sustainability, natural ventilation, indoor-outdoor relationships and contextual architecture.
